According to Israel’s Defense Minister, Yoav Gallant, indirect talks between Israel and Hamas started in October 2023 following the capture of multiple hostages during a violent attack. The Israeli government has been working to secure the release of those individuals.
Video of Female Soldier Appeals for Release
One of the hostages, Liri Albag, a 19-year-old female soldier, was shown in a video released by Hamas’ military wing, Izzedin Al-Qassam Brigade, appealing for her freedom. In the video, she speaks in Hebrew, urging the Israeli government to take action for her release. However, the authenticity of the video has yet to be officially verified.

Family’s Appeal for Ceasefire
Following the video’s release, Liri Albag’s family has made an emotional appeal to Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, urging him to push for a ceasefire agreement. They stressed the need for action, citing the impact on the children in Gaza as the war continues to escalate.
Current Situation of Hostages
At present, there are 96 Israeli hostages being held in Gaza, with 34 confirmed fatalities, according to reports from the Israeli military.
